Vacuum Tanker 2 and 3 for D.L. Hughes Ltd
We built our first vacuum cesspool emptier for D.L. Hughes Ltd in 2010, this being an 1800 gallon tanker with a 190 cfm exhauster & full rear door, mounted on a short wheelbase Volvo FL240. Wind the clock forward to 2021 & the Snowdonia based contractor run by Sam Hughes decided to add tankers No 2 & 3.
With a combined capacity of 5,000 gallons, this tanker ‘Rig’ operates in those sparse north Wales areas to improve efficiency. The specification comprises a short wheelbase Scania P370 18 ton 4x2 chassis supporting a 2,000 gallon vacuum sludge tanker with a Jurop 210 cfm exhauster pump & full rear door, towing a 3,000 gallon vacuum sludge tanker mounted on a tri-axle drawbar trailer. From a operational point of view, the 4x2 rigid can operate alone servicing inaccessible cesspools/cesspits, or coupled to the trailer tanker where the Scania based unit operates as a sort of Mother tanker.
